Your sucking me off? That's a gerund.

I just finished my first movie of 2009, The History Boys. Of course, my initial thoughts were flailings of OMG VERNON DURSLEY IS A PEDOPHILE, because damn. I mean, naturally, right? But what started as my childhood being slightly more destroyed by said flailings quickly drew me in. Two words? Loved. It. I can see where the comparisons to Dead Poets Society came in, but those comparisons would be obvious, wouldn't they?

Study and exam montages = win. And these boys are so verbose and well-read that it makes my nerdy little heart flutter, and my inferiority complex kick into overdrive. I need to read more. :| Additionally, smart English boys who occasionally burst into song are my favorite.

Also? I would LOVE to live in a country where there's just randomly gorgeous ruins to walk through, a relatively short drive away. Or gorgeous schools to attend. Mine was designed primarily in the 1960s, and I swear to God, they built one of the academic buildings upside-down.

Overall, totally loved it. My favorite bit was right at the end, where the boys are describing their future selves. Posner describing himself not unlike Hector made me a little sad -- guess he doesn't anticipating finding an attainable version of Dakin. I'm just left with one question: are all male history teachers in England gay for their equally male students? Because that's what this film has led me to believe.

The short version is that it's a good, well-written, somewhat thought-provoking movie. I enjoyed it a lot.
