Dad: *on phone* Hi, [proprietor of small dealership and garage in town]? How's it going? Listen, Magz is looking for a car, and she's specifically interested in the Subaru you've got on your lot.
Dealer: Which one? We've got a couple.
Dad: The Outback.
Mom: *overhears* No, out
front!
So I'm trying to get my hands on a 1997 Subaru Outback. The Liberalmobile, my bumper sticker-encrusted 1990 VW Golf, is getting on in years, and I don't really trust it to get me to NY state and back several times -- or even once. Plus, it's kinda small. Not good when schlepping the contents of a dorm room back and forth, yo.
The problem? I have to drive to school on Tuesday, and they've just now ordered a motor for the rear wiper on the car. I may be looking elsewhere. :| Elsewhere is expensive! I called the local Subaru dealership for a Blue Book price on the car and they're like, "We can't tell you that, but we can sell you one of ours!" Heh. Guy probably had dollar signs from commission flashing in his eyes.
I really really really don't want to force my brother to have to drive me to school. Really. 6½ hours of driving
one way is not good for a guy who works full-time and has two small kids.
